Your Role
As a Support Specialist, you will assist individuals with developmental disabilities in living independently and participating actively in their communities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Serving as a role model and companion while aiding in life skills and recreational activities.
- Helping individuals achieve their personal goals and explore new possibilities.
- Assisting with daily household management tasks.
- Providing support with medication administration, lifting, transferring, and other physical assistance.
- Offering emotional support and personal care.
Requirements
In addition to being a positive and enthusiastic team player, you will need:
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with $2 million liability insurance.
- Emergency First Aid and CPR certification.
- A Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- The ability to lift 40 lbs (18.5 kg) without accommodation.
- Availability to attend two full days of orientation (8:00 am - 4:30 pm).
- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous: supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, healthcare, child and youth care, or mental health support.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Permanent
Expected Hours: 5 – 30 hours per week
