We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Support Specialist to join our team at Lethbridge School Division No. 51. As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, promoting their academic and personal growth, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist students with targeted and specialized supports and services to effectively participate in their learning community.
- Implement strategies to support socially appropriate behaviors, attend to physical and medical needs, and monitor progress.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to develop and implement individualized programs and Positive Behavior Support Plans.
- Provide personal care, lifting, and toileting support for students, while maintaining awareness of proper body mechanics.
- Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field, such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, or Child and Youth Care.
- Experience working with students with exceptionalities, particularly those with severe behavior difficulties, ASD, ODD, FASD, ADHD, and other behavioral disabilities.
- Training and/or experience in Positive Behavior Support Plans, speech and language, OT/PT, and individual program goals.
- Strong communication skills, self-directed, flexible, and creative problem-solving abilities.
- A competitive hourly wage range of $23.99, depending on education and experience.
