Collaborates with senior and intermediate engineers under the direct oversight of a licensed professional engineer. Engages in tasks of limited scope and complexity, with detailed supervision on work, analysis, and calculations. Prepares reports, calculations, data sheets, and other deliverables following company protocols and templates. Reviews discipline drawings and inter-discipline information to ensure alignment with project goals, client specifications, company standards, and industry norms. Assembles attachments for Material Requisitions and Construction Work Packages. Addresses technical inquiries or concerns with guidance from Discipline Lead or senior personnel. Intermediate Engineer
Achieves initial specialization in complex applications (e.g., research, design) and prepares for Lead assignments. Plans and manages own workload across multiple projects; capable of working independently on project deliverables while engaging with clients and other disciplines. Oversees materials take-off management and constructability from an engineering/design perspective. Provides support for estimate development. Understands the expectations of various department stakeholders and how their contributions can enhance project success. Develops requisitioning protocols and discipline-specific scope narratives for contract and materials requisitions. Conducts technical evaluations of vendor and contractor proposals. Offers field engineering support and discipline-specific construction assistance. Contributes to the resolution of discipline-specific RFIs. Actively participates in discipline-specific HAZOP, HAZID, 3D Model Reviews, JHAs, or other formal project reviews as relevant. Senior Engineer
Recognized authority in discipline-specific engineering, design (e.g., calculations), and vendor documentation review. Develops the engineering section of the Project Execution Plan (PEP). Manages materials take-off and constructability from an engineering/design viewpoint. Supports estimate development; may prepare Man-Hour Estimates and Deliverable Lists for review with Department Head. Supervises and mentors a team of project personnel, including both technical and non-technical staff. Leads discipline-specific HAZOP, HAZID, 3D Model Reviews, JHAs, or other formal project reviews as applicable. Provides guidance and mentorship to E.I.T.s, technicians, and technologists, ensuring adherence to appropriate procedures and specifications. Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience:
Junior Engineer: 0-4 years of experience; holds Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation. Intermediate Engineer: 5-10 years of experience. Senior Engineer: 10+ years of progressive experience, including 10+ years in Canada and 5 years in leadership roles. University Degree (Senior), Technical Diploma, or Certificate from a recognized technology program; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Registration with the applicable provincial governing body. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drafting software. Experience with 3D design/drafting software (e.g., AutoPlant, Plant 3D, OpenPlant, etc.).
