Job Summary

As a Loss Control Specialist at Verisk, you will play a critical role in helping insurance companies reduce the frequency and severity of losses arising from fire, crime, and liability. Your primary responsibility will be to assess residential and commercial properties, identifying potential risks and providing recommendations for loss prevention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough property inspections to identify potential risks and hazards.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of building codes, fire services, construction, and maintenance practices.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their property's history, risks, and any concerns they may have.
  • Prepare detailed reports using internal systems, highlighting key findings and recommendations for loss prevention.
  • Travel extensively within a region, requiring a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Work autonomously, with minimal supervision, to meet productivity and revenue goals.
Accountabilities
  • Ensure reports are accurate, complete, and free of errors.
  • Contribute to the team's overall revenue goals.
  • Continuously expand your expertise to assess more complex properties.
Qualifications
  • Education in insurance, construction, or engineering is highly desirable.
  • Experience with building codes, fire services, construction, and maintenance is an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills, including database management, typing speed and accuracy, and word processing.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience as an underwriting assessor or in the insurance field is preferred.
