Ontario Health atHome is currently seeking Temporary Full-time Rehabilitation Support Specialists. Key Responsibilities

Direct Patient Engagement

  • Execute treatment plans for patients under the supervision of a licensed physiotherapist.
  • Support registered therapists in conducting patient evaluations and developing treatment strategies, adhering to the guidelines set by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Utilize technology platforms to receive clinical guidance from supervising therapists for effective treatment implementation.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of patient interactions in compliance with organizational policies and professional guidelines.
  • Regularly consult with registered therapists to review treatment plans and assess patient progress.
  • Encourage patient independence in home, community, and workplace settings to facilitate reintegration.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and guidelines regarding the use of support personnel.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by following safety protocols and reporting any incidents or hazards.
Essential Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Completion of an accredited 2-year diploma program in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Assistance.
  • Certification as a PTA/OTA recognized by the relevant professional colleges is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting as an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Assistant within the last two years.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with registered therapists and follow directives during patient interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with diverse patient populations with varying comprehension levels.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential for interactions with staff, external vendors, and partner organizations.
  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license are required.

Knowledge and Skills

Therapeutic Assistance:

  • Experience in assisting registered therapists in a healthcare or community setting.
  • Understanding of the roles of occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
  • Clear comprehension of the Rehabilitation Assistant's responsibilities and their collaboration with registered therapists.
  • Familiarity with healthcare professionals' roles and other patient service staff.
  • Knowledge of equipment and techniques used in occupational and physiotherapy services.
  • Understanding of rehabilitation principles and clinical terminology.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Awareness of relevant professional guidelines.
  • Solid understanding of organizational objectives and practices.

Administrative Skills:

  • Proficiency in preparing necessary documentation and maintaining patient records.
  • Ability to organize and manage filing systems efficiently.
  • Competence in operating office equipment and software applications.
