Your role will involve:
As part of our Mining Environmental Group, you will be stationed in our office, engaging in the management of mine waste and water. The position of Principal Geotechnical Engineer offers you the chance to:
- Collaborate with clients and team members on geotechnical field initiatives and design solutions
- Lead teams in civil and geotechnical design for mine waste projects
- Work within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive mine waste solutions
- Participate in safety inspections and reviews, contributing to the development of safety systems
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in your areas of expertise
- Build and maintain client relationships throughout project lifecycles
- Coordinate with various engineering disciplines to create holistic solutions
- Prepare technical documentation, including reports and proposals
Ideal candidate profile:
We seek a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our engineering team, focusing on both local and international mining projects. Your expertise will be crucial in the planning, assessment, design, and construction of tailings and water management systems for mining clients. Required qualifications:
We value your existing knowledge and experience and are committed to supporting your growth. However, we do require:
- A degree in civil or geotechnical engineering; a master's degree is a plus
- Over 10 years of experience in civil or geotechnical projects, ideally within the mining sector
- Eligibility for professional engineering registration in Canada
- Experience in geohazard assessments, design, and construction management
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, FLAC, and SLOPE/W
- Familiarity with mining regulations and best practices
- A passion for client collaboration and relationship building
- Strong communication skills, including proposal writing and technical reporting
- Experience in a safety-conscious work environment
