Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to become part of the Operating Rooms team at Sechelt Hospital. We invite you to consider this opportunity to contribute to our healthcare community.

As a Registered Nurse specializing in Critical Care/Emergency/PACU, your responsibilities will include:

Delivering emergency nursing care to patients of all ages who present with diverse symptoms in unpredictable environments, as well as providing care to critically ill patients on life-support systems and those recovering from anesthesia. Acting as a vital member of the emergency response team, stabilizing and resuscitating multi-trauma patients, and preparing for and responding to crisis situations. Enhancing the quality of life from the perspective of patients and their families. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Demonstrating leadership and expertise in nursing practices. Maintaining and improving clinical skills and knowledge. Participating in hospital committees, teams, and approved research initiatives as assigned.

Sechelt Hospital is a 46-bed acute care facility serving over 30,000 residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, renal programs, mental health services, surgical services, and imaging.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is mandatory. Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or an advanced program in emergency care nursing, or two (2) years of recent, relevant experience.

Knowledge & Skills

Extensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a patient-centered care framework. Familiarity with BCCNM's standards for nursing practice. Proven ability in nursing practice relevant to the designated patient population. Competence in planning and implementing care plans based on patient and family needs. Strong assessment and interviewing skills. Ability to respond appropriately to patient care outcomes. Adaptability to new or unexpected situations. Proficiency in managing trauma in emergency settings. Capability to handle conflict situations effectively. Collaborative skills to work within an interdisciplinary team. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to engage with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues effectively. Skills in counseling and educating patients and their families. Leadership and direction-giving abilities. Physical capability to perform job duties. Proficiency in using medical equipment and supplies relevant to the clinical area. Basic computer skills for operating patient care information systems.
