Position Overview

The Senior Philanthropy Officer at Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Atlantic is a pivotal role focused on driving revenue growth to support our mission of keeping families united during their child's medical journey.

This position entails the formulation and execution of comprehensive strategies for major and planned giving initiatives. The successful candidate will inspire and motivate high-value donations, particularly those exceeding six figures. Collaboration across departments and engagement with senior volunteers will be essential as we aim for optimal growth and enhanced support for families through philanthropic efforts.

About RMHC Atlantic

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Atlantic is dedicated to assisting families with ill children by providing them with a supportive environment close to necessary medical care. Our services include the Ronald McDonald House in Halifax, which serves as a “home-away-from-home” for families, and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located within hospitals, offering a sanctuary of comfort and support. Each year, we serve over 2,000 families from across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Major Gifts Development: Create and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and manage relationships with major donors, focusing on contributions of $25,000 or more.
  • Planned Giving Initiatives: Develop and execute plans to engage and solicit legacy gifts from donors, ensuring personalized support throughout the planning process.
  • Donor Engagement: Foster and maintain strong relationships with existing major donors, creating tailored stewardship plans to acknowledge their contributions and keep them informed about the impact of their support.
  • Research and Management: Conduct thorough prospect research to identify potential major gift donors and manage donor interactions through a systematic approach.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, Development Team, and Board of Directors to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
  • Reporting: Regularly report on fundraising activities, progress towards goals, and donor engagement metrics, providing insights for strategy refinement.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in major gift fundraising with a proven record of securing significant donations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building trust with donors and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail, managing multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of RMHC Atlantic.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean background check are required.
