As the Taxation Administrator for Scotiatrust in Canadian Wealth Management, you will play a crucial role in the success of the Scotiatrust Taxation Services unit in Canada. Your contributions will ensure that individual goals, plans, and initiatives are effectively executed in alignment with the team's business strategies and objectives. You will ensure that all activities comply with relevant regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader banking relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Prepare income tax returns by proactively collecting and analyzing all pertinent supporting documentation, including income statements, transactions, tax slips, capital gains and losses statements, fee deductions, and relevant credits.
- Engage in discussions regarding tax regulations and elections with the Tax Officer, Associate Tax Officer, and/or Manager of Taxation. Assess client tax situations, conduct detailed analyses, perform research, and provide recommendations for specific actions in less complex scenarios.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and culture should influence daily activities and decision-making.
- Strive for effective and efficient operations within your respective areas while ensuring comprehensive knowledge of and strict adherence to the Bank's Global Sales Practices. This includes ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
- Foster a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.
Do you possess the skills and qualifications necessary for success in this role? We would be pleased to work with you if you have:
- A willingness to complete the STEP or CSI Taxation Courses and stay updated on legislative changes, particularly those affecting the taxation of individuals, estates, trusts, corporations, and registered charities.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in tax preparation software and MS Office, as well as familiarity with SalesForce and the Broadridge Trust System.
