Job Overview

The Safety Advisor is a key member of the Lindsay Construction team, responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and promoting a strong safety culture on-site. This role is ideal for an individual who excels in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities

The Safety Advisor will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations in Atlantic Canada
  • Promoting a strong safety culture on-site and working with team members, trade partners, and stakeholders
  • Providing insight into the company's health and safety program and making continuous improvements
  • Conducting safety training and maintaining safety training records
  • Conducting comprehensive hazard assessments and formal site inspections
  • Participating in recording monthly safety statistics
  • Implementing, enforcing, monitoring, and updating site-specific health and safety plans
  • Delivering site-specific safety orientations and ensuring personnel undergo orientation before entering the site
  • Maintaining site-specific logs of inspections, meetings, infractions, and mitigating measures
  • Assisting with maintenance of the company's quality management system
  • Working with the safety department on various business development initiatives

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-4 years of safety experience in the construction industry
  • CHSC or CRSP designation or similar
  • Knowledge of current legislation and regulations in Atlantic Canada
  • Knowledge of safe work practices required for execution work and operation of equipment
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs for construction site equipment
  • Possess a working knowledge of the MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to lead and work with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license considered an asset
