Kitchen Helper Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at Holletts Retirement Living Inc. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen and providing exceptional service to our residents.

Responsibilities:
  • Clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware, and sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand
  • Scour pots and pans to maintain their cleanliness and prevent the buildup of bacteria
  • Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs, and handle and store cleaning products
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment
  • Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and sharpen kitchen knives to maintain their effectiveness
  • Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit to prepare them for cooking
Requirements:
  • Criminal record check
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle heavy loads
  • Physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods and repetitive tasks
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, reliability, and a positive attitude
Working Conditions:
  • Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) weight handling
  • 30 to 40 hours per week, with a permanent employment opportunity
  • English language proficiency
