Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Signals Engineer to join our team. As a Traffic Signals Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and managing electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects. You will work closely with clients and internal team members to deliver high-quality projects that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Relationship Building and Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and deliver high-quality projects.
    • Participate in business development activities, proposal preparation, and project budgeting and scheduling.
  • Design and Specification Development
    • Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members to design and specify electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.
    • Develop power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary systems designs in AutoCAD, AGi32 light software, and/or MicroStation.
  • Project Delivery and Management
    • Lead and contribute to the successful design, production, coordination, and management of electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.
    • Prepare and review wire sizing, voltage drop, and conduit capacity calculations.
    • Prepare technical reports, tender documentation, and field support.
  • Quality Assurance and Control
    • Ensure that engineering deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices.
    • Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and project documentation.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Direct and mentor junior staff as required.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in traffic engineering.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic signal design and operations.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    • P.Eng. or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Alberta is required.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code, Alberta Transportation Standards, and regional traffic design standards.
    • Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and AGi32 lighting design software.
