About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Health Officer - Medical Director to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of public health in our region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic oversight and management of Population and Public Health programs and services, working in partnership with Clinical Directors.
  • Lead MHO statutory programs for Fraser Health and the Province, as determined by the Vice President, Population Health and Chief Medical Health Officer.
  • Carry out legislated requirements of the Public Health Act, Community Care Facility and Assisted Living Act, Drinking Water Protection Act, School Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, municipal councils, school boards, and other government ministries to address public health issues.
  • Develop and implement effective health programs and services, and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Advocate for actions that will improve the health of populations, and communicate directly with the public and elected officials on health issues.
Requirements
  • Medical Degree and eligibility for a full license to practice medicine in British Columbia.
  • Masters in Health Sciences (or equivalent qualifications).
  • FRCP(C) in Public Health and Preventive Medicine / Community Medicine.
  • Experience with health program administration and management, including serving on medical advisory committees and program management responsibility.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment, action, and discretion in the carrying out of responsibilities.
