Job Title: Home-Based Crisis Intervention Mentor

Job Summary:

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre Inc is seeking a skilled Home-Based Crisis Intervention Mentor to join our team. As a Home-Based Crisis Intervention Mentor, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to families in crisis, helping them to navigate challenging situations and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to referrals from community partners and provide immediate support to families in crisis.
  • Provide homemaker duties, childcare, respite, parent support services, mediation, conflict resolution, emotional support, and recreational activities to families in need.
  • Support goal setting and attainment for families in varying levels of crisis.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the issues that impact children, youth, and families.
  • Ability to mentor youth and/or adults in crisis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Report writing skills in advocating for families.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work independently and creatively.
  • Independent problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of Indigenous and community issues.
  • Knowledge and skills to work with children and youth.
  • Computer skills an asset.
  • Strong motivational and leadership skills.
  • Team player/facilitator.
  • Time Management skills.
  • Valid Manitoba Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Current Police and Child abuse checks.
