Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Architect to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Architect at Zeidler, you will play a key role in the design, delivery, and coordination of all phases of the project from pre-design to site administration.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement architectural designs, including conception and development, and prepare high-quality design details and specifications.
  2. Supervise the preparation of preliminary plans and detailed drawings for complex interior projects.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop design concepts and translate them into design documents during project phases.
  4. Develop space and furnishing plans, design details, and finish selections to support conceptual design.
  5. Present design concepts and drawings to clients and stakeholders.
  6. Provide technical guidance and instruction on specific design objectives, complex features, and solutions.
  7. Lead team meetings to ensure continuity of design intent.
  8. Attend site meetings, review shop drawings, and provide contract administrative support as required.
  9. Mentor and coach team members to develop their skills and reach their potential.
  10. Lead by example, promoting effective communication, providing feedback, and being approachable and supportive.
  11. Support Principals in preparing and conducting employee performance reviews.
  12. Oversee project staffing, set objectives and expectations for the team, and manage direct reports to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  13. Review and approve direct reports' timesheets.
  14. Represent the firm in the industry to advance the company's interest and profile.
  15. Contribute to the development of proposals and business development for the studio.
  16. Maintain and improve strong policies, procedures, and systems for the studio.
  17. Maintain a strong presence in the professional association.
Requirements
  1. Degree in Architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  2. 10+ years of experience as an Architect.
  3. Registered with OAA or another Canadian architectural association.
  4. Ensure project compliance with architectural office procedures and related architectural drawing standards.
  5. Contribute to the building design process from conceptual design to contract documents and site administration.
  6. Full knowledge of local construction systems and related detailing, including the integration of sustainable building design criteria.
  7. LEED AP and/or Certified Passive House Designer preferred.
  8. Extensive experience with local city development and building permit process required.
  9. Strong conceptual and design skills, including creative drawing ability, 3D modeling, and freehand sketch skills.
  10. Technical drawing ability, including Revit and CAD.
  11. Ability to work in an open, collaborative workplace environment.
  12. This position may require the ability to travel as needed.
