Director of Human Resources

Cape Breton University is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our team in promoting excellence and innovation in human resources management.
The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of human resources management, including employee and faculty labour relations, human resources planning and strategy development, policy development and implementation, training, professional development, and performance management.
As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Human Resources will contribute to the organization's mandate by providing advice and guidance on all issues affecting human resources management to the Executive Team and other managers.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a talented and committed team of professionals who support CBU in all aspects of human resources management
- Oversee employee and faculty labour relations, including negotiation and interpretation of collective agreements
- Develop and implement human resources strategies and plans to support the university's goals and objectives
- Provide advice and guidance on human resources management issues to the Executive Team and other managers
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field, preferably with a Human Resources or Business focus
- Minimum of ten years' experience in increasingly responsible positions in the Human Resources field, specifically in a unionized environment
- Proven experience with labour relations, negotiation, and interpretation of collective agreements
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide variety of people
