Senior Financial Accountant

In this pivotal role, you will contribute significantly through the following responsibilities:

  • Execute specialized accounting tasks essential for maintaining the integrity of the department's general ledger. Conduct thorough financial analyses of the department's accounts and financial statements, identifying and interpreting any unusual variances.
  • Record and report accounting transactions promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare entries for the general ledger and conduct account reconciliations.
  • Generate balance sheets, profit and loss statements, consolidated financial reports, and various accounting schedules.
  • Address inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory groups regarding financial outcomes and reporting requests.
  • Regularly review and enhance internal controls, developing new measures as necessary.
  • Assess current procedures and propose improvements to establish best practice accounting methodologies.
  • Safeguard the organization's assets by maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Required Skills

  • Technical Accounting Evaluation - Analyze and assess transactions to ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP - Understand and apply US accounting principles to ensure accurate transaction recording and stakeholder communication.
  • Financial Regulatory Knowledge - Evaluate relevant regulations in areas such as taxation and local accounting to ensure compliance.
  • Financial Reporting Expertise - Analyze financial data to support business decisions and present findings in a clear, concise manner.
  • Internal Control Proficiency - Utilize internal control frameworks to assess and mitigate financial reporting risks.
  • Financial Analysis Skills - Interpret financial trends and variances to provide insights that drive business improvements.
  • Accountability - Ensure commitments are met consistently.
  • Effective Communication - Develop and deliver clear communications tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Complexity Management - Navigate complex information to solve problems effectively.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or CA are preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the accounting field.
  • Proficiency in both French and English is required.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel; familiarity with Power BI is an asset.
