Job Summary

As a Student and Learner Experience Coordinator, you will play a key role in coordinating education opportunities for students and learners within VON Canada. This may include clinical placements, non-paid internships/residencies, and other education to advance evidence-informed practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and maintain affiliation agreements and other pre-placement documents.
  • Book and monitor virtual education sessions, ensuring their success.
  • Process invoices for academic partners to ensure accurate allocation of program expenditures.
  • Maintain documentation on the VON website and intranet for students, learners, and staff.
  • Coordinate new nurse graduate transition to practice, preceptor, and mentorship programs.
  • Collaborate with managers and Human Resources to identify and recruit high-performing students.
  • Track and report annual evaluation results to relevant managers and the Director of Professional Practice and Education.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Practice Quality and Risk team as required.
  • Support additional projects and tasks as requested.
Education, Designations, and Experience
  • Post-secondary diploma in a health/social science discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications/education.
  • 23 years of related experience in community and health-based care.
  • 12 years of experience in program planning and evaluation is an asset.
  • Experience in volunteer administration is an asset.
  • Experience or understanding of the not-for-profit healthcare environment is an asset.
Skill Requirements
  • Knowledge of VON departments and their contacts.
  • Understanding of the Health Sciences Placement Network for Canada (HSPnet) and proficiency in using it.
  • Clear understanding of the process for placement of students/learners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment with high confidentiality and discretion.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the social and health care services network and community resources.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work both independently and within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and handle competing deadlines.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Windows OS and MS Office Suite programs.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.

Individuals in this role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
