Athabasca University's Faculty of Health Disciplines (FHD) is a prominent institution in health care education, committed to providing exceptional programs that empower graduates to impact lives positively, drive innovation in health care systems, engage in meaningful research, and pursue fulfilling careers.
FHD champions research excellence and hosts a Canada Research Chair focused on Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Management. Faculty members are involved in diverse health-related research initiatives, with funding sourced from national bodies such as CFI, CIHR, and SSHRC, as well as regional and provincial organizations.
Position Overview
The Master of Nursing Program within FHD invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. This full-time role is essential for advancing the educational mission of the university.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning: The faculty member will design, deliver, and assess graduate-level courses within the Nurse Practitioner Program.
Research and Scholarship: The successful candidate will establish and enhance a robust research agenda in a strategic area, which includes securing research funding, disseminating findings through various channels, and collaborating with relevant partners and stakeholders.
Community Engagement: The faculty member will provide expertise to community groups and agencies, contributing to the broader public service that the university supports.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a Doctorate in nursing and be eligible for registration as a licensed Nurse Practitioner in Alberta. A minimum of three to five years of relevant academic or professional experience, along with leadership experience in graduate Nurse Practitioner course coordination, is required. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to professional development, continuous learning, and contributions across research, teaching, and community service.
