Product Development Engineer

Lonza is seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer to join our team in Kingston, ON. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvements in our Cocoon product line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement design modifications to improve product quality and reliability.
- Investigate product complaints and non-conformances, and propose corrective actions.
- Review existing product designs and propose improvements.
- Lead collaborative design updates and implementations of corrective actions and backlog features.
- Verify corrective designs and participate in verification activities.
- Generate and review technical documentation, including investigative pursuits, conceptual design, mechanical drawings, and technical reports.
- Apply a risk-based approach to product design activities using xFMEA methodology.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, such as Systems, Mechanical, Biomedical, or similar.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in product design in a regulated industry, with a focus on medical devices or product design/manufacture.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Extensive understanding of CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks.
- Design experience with a focus on Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with hands-on mechanical aptitude and ability to use common shop tools and measurement equipment.
- Experience with technical leadership for projects with cross-functional teams.
