Your Responsibilities
Epic Games is on the lookout for a seasoned FX Outsourcing Supervisor to oversee and guide the creative contributions from external partners. Reporting to the respective art lead(s) and collaborating with the Outsource Manager, the Outsourcing Supervisor will provide essential creative feedback on submissions for review. While the role is primarily supervisory, the ideal candidate should possess a strong artistic background, having experience in game studio workflows, as evidenced by their portfolio. The perfect candidate will be a skilled artist with excellent communication abilities, capable of managing various daily tasks, including: documenting current workflows, gathering and/or producing quality benchmarks and technical example assets, sourcing photo references, creating asset block-outs, developing simple block-out paintovers, and ultimately packaging all files for external partners.
In this position, you will
Collaborate closely with individual Epic Art Leads, Outsource Managers, and fellow artists to ensure assets are fully prepared before distribution to external partners Collect or produce comprehensive documentation, video references, and examples of art asset creation, procedures, and engine specifications to assist outsourced partners If necessary, make adjustments to assets received from external partners to guarantee they meet consistency and 'technical' readiness for gaming Provide clear and constructive feedback to outsourced partners, ensuring all feedback is effectively implemented Liaise with high-level Epic leadership should objectives not be met Work in tandem with internal Art staff to ensure assets from outsourced partners are integrated into the pipeline and engine accurately When required, engage in hands-on art production, deliver assets to external partners, offer bug support and triage, and facilitate final refinements on art assets received from the outsourcing teamWhat We Seek
Proven experience in shipping and optimizing AAA titles across various platforms, or managing large-scale creative projects in film and television Proficiency in game art asset creation using a range of software tools including Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, Substance, etc. Exceptional communication skills, capable of delivering intricate, creative feedback to external vendors and comfortable engaging with high-level leadership Highly organized, self-motivated, customer-oriented, and a strong team collaborator, particularly in high-pressure production settings As an Outsourcing Supervisor, proficiency in a language other than English is advantageous, especially Chinese, German, Spanish, Italian, or RussianEPIC OPPORTUNITY + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFE
