About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Safety Specialist to join our team at Trotter & Morton Group of Companies. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, clients, and contractors on our construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Inspections and Audits:
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
    • Prepare detailed reports of inspections, including observations, recommendations, and follow-up actions
  • Safety Training and Awareness:
    • Deliver safety training programs for site personnel to promote a culture of safety
    • Ensure all employees are familiar with site-specific safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Incident Management:
    • Respond to and investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses
    • Document and report incidents, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure site operations comply with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations, as well as industry best practices
    • Stay updated on changes in safety regulations and standards and implement necessary adjustments
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with site management, site employees, and other stakeholders to promote safety and address safety-related concerns
    • Facilitate regular safety meetings and communicate safety updates and initiatives effectively
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and compliance activities
    • Prepare and submit safety performance reports to management as required
Requirements
  • Professional Qualifications:
    • Completion of or working towards an accredited Occupational Health & Safety Certificate
    • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is preferred
  • Work Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in a Health and Safety role, preferably in the construction industry
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to engage and coach individuals
    • Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software
