We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to join our team at Black & McDonald Limited. As a key member of our Facilities Management team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our facilities, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and meet the needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the overall operation of our facilities, ensuring compliance with safety, productivity, and efficiency standards.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program, including training maintenance personnel and implementing a Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Effectively manage employee performance, utilizing coaching, mentoring, and corrective disciplinary action as needed.
- Solve problems and conflicts in a professional manner, maintaining open and timely communication with customers.
- Interface with internal and external customers to ensure effective communication regarding status and priority of work.
- Develop and implement shift schedules, managing labor resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Manage and coordinate all utility building activities, including boilers, emergency generators, chillers, electrical units, and more.
- Prepare proposals for additions, deletions, and changes to the contract scope as requested by customers.
- Track, analyze, and trend project costs, providing accurate invoicing and budgets based on contract type, terms, and conditions.
- Develop and manage operational and capital projects, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and third parties, ensuring timely exchange of information and meeting budgetary and service level requirements.
- Prepare and negotiate contracts, renewals, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with clients, architects, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Adhere to and implement health, safety, quality control, and environmental policies and programs.
- Inventory and order equipment, materials, and supplies for the maintenance department.
- Review and approve all expenditures for materials, equipment, tools, supplies, and subcontractors.
- Be available to respond to facility emergencies after hours.
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- 3-5 years' experience in building maintenance or a related trade, preferably with strong knowledge of building electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and building structural systems.
- Experience in maintaining and managing all building services, utilizing contractors and in-house staff.
- Experience with commercial/institutional buildings, project management, and hydro/water/HVAC is an asset.
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes, National Building Code, and National Fire Code is required.
- Multiple years of experience in an airport/airline setting is an asset.
