Role Summary

The Home Care Support Specialist will operate within the framework of Continuous Quality Improvement, adhering to the guiding principles, policies, and standards of the organization. This role contributes to the mission of enhancing community well-being through the provision of tailored programs. Respite caregivers deliver essential support in clients' homes, ensuring their comfort and providing relief to primary caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidates will be tasked with offering companionship, personal assistance, and health maintenance services to clients in their residences, in alignment with the organization's philosophy and regulations.

Required Qualifications

  1. Certification as a Personal Support Worker or Developmental Service Worker
  2. Current Standard First Aid Certification
  3. Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) training is advantageous.
  4. Demonstrated experience with individuals experiencing Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
  5. Certification in Dementia Care or equivalent training is preferred.
  6. Flexibility in working hours is essential.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  8. Ability to work autonomously and solve problems effectively
  9. Capacity to adapt to various social and economic settings
  10. Possession of a personal vehicle, a valid driver's license, and proof of vehicle insurance
  11. A current and original satisfactory Criminal Records Check is mandatory prior to employment commencement
  12. A Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be necessary
  13. Proficiency in French is beneficial in designated areas

Work Environment and Physical Demands: Fast-paced setting; Attention to detail; Ability to lift and carry using proper techniques; Capable of bending, pushing, pulling, gripping, reaching, kneeling, and crouching with good body mechanics; Proficient in walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs; Fine motor skills required.
