The Policy and Data Quality Unit plays a crucial role in supporting the Assessment and Taxation branch by leveraging business systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, data analytics, and enhancing business processes, all of which significantly influence branch operations.

The Business Intelligence Analyst is tasked with uncovering insights and pinpointing opportunities through statistical analysis, algorithmic methods, data mining, and visualization techniques.

This role also involves ensuring compliance with ERP system policies, procedures, and standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets sourced from various platforms including TACS, POSSE, SLIM, Google Sheets, MS Excel, Open Data, and more.
  • Enhancing the data collection, processing, and forecasting capabilities within the Assessment and Taxation branch.
  • Staying informed about and researching innovative techniques for data presentation.
  • Maintaining expertise in existing and emerging visualization and business data tools (e.g., WEBI, Tableau).
  • Reviewing and determining the appropriate data sets utilized within the branch.
  • Making recommendations regarding data storage solutions (e.g., Oracle, Excel, Google, POSSE, SAP) and methods for data refresh and extraction.
  • Participating in the functional configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of assigned ERP systems in alignment with operational and business requirements.
  • Supporting the planning and development of future-state ERP systems.
  • Reviewing and analyzing data to identify potential process improvements that can be implemented by the branch.

Qualifications include:

  • A university degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistics.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in data visualization, data analysis, and/or business intelligence.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in business intelligence tools such as SAP Web Intelligence, Tableau, or similar data discovery and visualization technologies.
  • Fundamental knowledge of SQL is essential, with experience in other data manipulation technologies considered an asset.
  • A strong intellectual curiosity regarding data and its potential to generate insights.
  • A passion for transforming extensive data sets into engaging visual narratives and reports to aid in analysis and decision-making.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to both technical and business stakeholders at various organizational levels.
