Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Services Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance and facilities team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and preventative maintenance duties, including minor repairs, renovations, and maintenance of the residence.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure the building is well maintained.
  • Perform duties in all service areas in a safe and efficient manner with consideration for residents, staff, and family members.
  • Monitor and maintain environmental fire safety conditions, equipment, and alarm systems.
  • Assist residents with moving furniture, as required.
  • Ensure that safety procedures are always adhered to while working in the residence.
  • Respond to building emergencies appropriately.
  • Upkeep of exterior building including grounds, common areas, and garbage container areas.
  • Perform regular daily and monthly maintenance checks of all equipment and supplies within the residence.
  • Snow removal on all sidewalks, driveway, and ramps of the residence.
  • Responsible for checking and updating maintenance work orders through the applicable database.
  • Keep work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.

Requirements

  • Minimum of grade 12 education required.
  • Previous experience in building services with a strong background in HVAC, working with senior clientele is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to perform janitorial duties, renovations, repairs, minor plumbing/electrical work, and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • Dependable, responsible, flexible, and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently.
  • A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of the residence.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has demonstrated multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
