About the Role

The Facility Maintenance Technician is a key member of our team at BGIS, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This includes performing routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, as well as responding to service requests and monitoring facility conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance
    • Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of facility systems to identify potential issues and recommend enhancements.
    • Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
    • Respond to service requests and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
  • Client Relations
    • Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with tenants and clients.
  • Administration
    • Participate in facility-related projects and ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records and submit expenditures in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in a critical facility providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
    • Strong client-service orientation and a high sense of urgency.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and electrical systems and components.
    • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
    • Mentoring skills to support lower-level technician development.
  • Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
    • Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution is a minimum requirement.
    • Red Seal Trade License (HVAC or Electrical) is an asset.
