Job Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician is a critical role at BGIS, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, as well as troubleshooting and repairing equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify potential issues and implement preventative measures.
  • Respond to emergency calls and perform repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless facility operations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Critical Facility providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating ventilation and air conditions systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair (as per applicable qualifications) mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems and components (UPS, ATS, Generator).
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills required to support lower level technician's development.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise.
  • Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be capable of obtaining appropriate security clearance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC Systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution is minimum requirement.
  • Red Seal Trade License (HVAC or Electrical) is an asset.
