Position Overview
The role of the Transporter in Portering Services is essential in ensuring the smooth transportation of patients within the hospital. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in moving patients, as well as transporting materials, linens, and supplies as required. You will work autonomously while effectively prioritizing tasks and collaborating with team members. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial, along with basic computer proficiency. This position plays a vital role in supporting the hospital's educational and research initiatives, contributing to a safe and healthy environment for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport blood samples and specimens to the laboratory.
- Assist patients and nursing staff with various services.
- Deliver necessary supplies throughout the facility.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment as needed.
- Handle incoming calls through the Health Resource Centre.
- Move equipment to designated storage for repairs.
- Respond to requests and inquiries promptly.
- Assist in emergency situations as required.
- Collaborate with team members to complete tasks independently.
- Deliver clean linens to appropriate areas.
- Refill scrub-ex machines as necessary.
- Collect and manage soiled linens.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- Experience in heavy lifting, documentation processing via computer, and addressing client concerns in person and over the phone.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is an asset.
