About the Role:

We are seeking a responsible and dependable Apprentice Parts Technician to join our team at The RMC Group of Companies. This role is responsible for supporting our mechanic shop to provide parts for maintenance and repairs, maintaining accurate inventory of parts, and coordinating with suppliers to procure parts as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with parts management, including tracking, organizing, and inventorying parts and supplies used in concrete truck maintenance and repair.
  • Order and restock parts, including assisting in ordering and restocking parts and supplies as needed, to maximize limited storage space while taking advantage of bulk buying power.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory documentation, tracking parts usage, inventory levels, and maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with Heavy Duty Mechanics to supply parts required for maintenance and repairs, making recommendations for substitutions if there is a lower cost option or if the original product is unavailable.
  • Research pricing options to ensure the company remains fiscally responsible.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers to ensure parts are received on time and within scope.
  • Process payment transactions for parts ordered.
  • Clean, organize, and inventory parts frequently.
  • Perform parts runs, transporting parts from suppliers to the shop, as required.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy work area at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Registered 1st or 2nd year Parts Technician Apprentice or equivalent experience.
  • General labour, parts, or construction experience.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and clean drivers abstract.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Experience working with heavy trucks or off-road equipment is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  • Primary work environment is in a mechanic shop.
  • Travel to suppliers using a company vehicle may be required from time to time.
  • Frequent, lifting, bending, and climbing is required.

Hours of Work:

This position typically adheres to the following schedule: 2:00pm-10:30pm Tuesday – Friday and Saturday 11:00am-7:30pm. Overtime and night shifts may be required from time to time based in the needs of the business.
