Position Overview

As a key member of the Wealth Data & Analytics division, you will play a crucial role in advancing the data and analytics goals for Wealth Management, a vital and expanding sector within the bank. Wealth Management encompasses various business lines, including Digital Investing, Private Wealth Canada, U.S. Wealth, Asset Management, and Insurance.

In this Senior Manager role within the Wealth Data Management Office, you will work closely with the Data Management Lead to deliver strategic insights and recommendations aimed at enhancing the overall Wealth Management Data Governance Program. This involves adhering to enterprise-wide data principles to ensure robust data quality and mitigate data-related risks. Additionally, you will collaborate with individual business data owners to promote the adoption of data management practices and governance across all Wealth business units, aligning with the Wealth Management Data Governance Program.

Your responsibilities will include fostering a culture that recognizes data as a valuable corporate asset. This requires building strong partnerships with Business and Technology counterparts to manage metadata and data flows that facilitate data utilization and impact assessment for critical business decisions, regulatory reporting, and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor in data management, designing the Wealth data governance strategy, processes, and best practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide data principles, policies, and guidelines.
  • Contribute to overall business planning and roadmaps to prioritize data management coverage across Wealth Management data assets for regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Act as an expert in relevant data regulations, networking internally and externally to gather industry insights and best practices in data governance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to oversee the effectiveness of the Wealth data management and governance program, identifying and mitigating current and emerging risks.
  • Formulate a strategy for the deployment of data management tools utilizing approved enterprise solutions.
  • Support the implementation of data management processes and ongoing activities to ensure stakeholder understanding and adoption of data governance.
  • Assist in managing operational changes and projects, including supporting Technology in system validation and testing.
  • Facilitate the management of BMO's data as a critical asset that supports efficient decision-making.
  • Analyze both structured and unstructured data to assist in designing and implementing a curated data model for the business/group.
  • Contribute to the development of business/group data strategies and data governance policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Provide recommendations based on a comprehensive understanding of business strategy and stakeholder requirements.
  • Identify and implement effective methods for collecting, processing, analyzing, and reporting information while ensuring continuous accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Participate in the resolution of operational and technical issues, coordinating escalation with other technical support units.
  • Assist in recognizing change impacts through requirements gathering, mapping, and documenting current and proposed processes.
  • Analyze strategic issues, data, and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Support the development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on data management requirements and compliance matters, including their effects and resolution status.
  • Support the assessment and analysis of root causes, devising solutions and strategies to enhance data quality.
  • Elevate data and compliance issues as necessary.
  • Conduct needs assessments, identify gaps, and propose enhancements to streamline data management processes.
  • Document and maintain operational procedures and practices for data management.
  • Create change management plans of various scopes and types, leading or participating in change management activities.
  • Develop communications and training materials to support data management process implementation.
  • Coordinate stakeholders in the information chain to resolve data issues.
  • Conduct quality assurance tasks to ensure compliance in data handling, storage, and collection as per Bank Policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Focus primarily on business/group within BMO, with potential for broader enterprise-wide focus.
  • Utilize judgment to identify, diagnose, and resolve problems within defined parameters.
  • Independently manage a variety of complex tasks, including unique scenarios.
  • Typically requires 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
  • Proficient in data management tools, with experience in Informatica being beneficial.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis environments is advantageous.
  • Skilled in utilizing BI tools and relational databases.
  • Competency with programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java, and C/C++.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making.

Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation for this role is competitive, with a salary range of $92,000 to $171,600.00. BMO Financial Group offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include performance-based bonuses, discretionary incentives, health coverage, education reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
