Program Manager

The SSHRC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to lead a team of Program Officers and Program Assistants. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the Agency's programs, providing policy, procedural, and in some cases budgetary direction to the team and associated committees.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and conduct analysis of data, reports, and complex cases
- Make funding and budgetary recommendations or decisions within delegated authority
- Lead working groups and projects, and participate in or lead corporate working groups
- Make decisions of varying complexity related to program design or operations
- Provide advice to senior management regarding complex program policies and procedures
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Experience in a university, college, industry, or government research and development setting, and/or in the administration of research and/or award funding programs
- Experience in managing human resources, multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
- Experience in policy development and analysis
- Experience in working with internal and external stakeholders, developing, negotiating, and monitoring joint programs and/or solutions
- Experience with industrial or government Research & Development
- Experience in the application of equity, diversity, and inclusion or gender-based analysis+ principles to given environments
- Experience in managing financial resources
- Knowledge of the mandate and structure of SSHRC and associated policies and practices
- Knowledge of the issues associated with research and the application of research results in industry, government, and academia
- Knowledge of the issues affecting the research community, including an understanding of processes and trends in science and engineering research and/or post-secondary education in Canada
