As a Project Manager at Cheme, you will leverage your leadership and organizational skills to ensure the timely delivery of projects that meet client specifications and budgetary constraints. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in managing capital projects within the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or science and technology sectors.
Project Managers at Cheme are not just managers; they are leaders who guide a multi-disciplinary team across various projects while providing mentorship and coaching to junior staff.
The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Overseeing assigned team members
- Defining project scope and estimating engineering fees
- Drafting proposals
- Acting as the primary liaison with clients
- Preparing and maintaining budgets and timelines
- Estimating costs and managing equipment installations
- Leading project execution, coordinating contractors and vendors, and reporting progress to clients
- Supervising equipment selection, sizing calculations, and P&ID development in line with client requirements
- Creating construction specifications, user requirements, functional specifications, and scope documentation
- Preparing and reviewing commissioning and validation protocols
- Participating in factory acceptance testing and coordinating on-site commissioning and validation activities
- Traveling to client locations for site assessments and troubleshooting
- Bachelor's degree in Applied Science or Engineering from a recognized Canadian university OR
- Bachelor's degree in a physical science from a recognized Canadian university
- Project Management Professional designation is advantageous but not mandatory
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management and process development or technology transfer
- Experience in managing capital projects ranging from $5,000 to $20,000,000
- Proven ability to manage projects, systems, personnel, client relationships, and financial resources
- Experience in supervising team members
- Capability to train and develop junior staff
- Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism in client interactions
- Familiarity with standard business practices such as quoting, requirements preparation, marketing, and sales
- Proficient in Microsoft operating systems and Office Suite for document preparation and server navigation
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Project for scheduling and resource tracking
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
