Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our Family Law team at Miller Thomson LLP. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to our lawyers in managing assignments, priorities, and deadlines to ensure seamless case progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting & Revising: Prepare and review various court documents, including applications, affidavits, separation agreements, domestic contracts, motion materials, minutes of settlement, and continuing records.
  • Reviewing & Summarizing: Review and summarize productions received from clients, opposing counsel, and external parties.
  • Preparing, Assembling & Assisting: Prepare financial and net family property statements, assist in managing uncontested divorce files, and prepare and assemble various briefs and materials for case conferences, hearings, motions, and trials.
  • Liaising & Communicating: Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court trial coordinators, and other external parties as required, and communicate potential issues to supervising lawyers.

Requirements:

  • Education: Law Clerk Diploma and/or Paralegal Licence/Diploma.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of Family Law experience.
  • Skills: Solid understanding of current legal terminology, working knowledge of civil procedure Court rules, advanced knowledge of litigation support software applications, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
