About The Role

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Lead Quality Assurance Specialist is tasked with providing technical assistance to senior project personnel (Project Managers, Superintendents, etc.) and performing essential quality inspections in accordance with established construction codes. This role will be based on a significant project site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify that trades are certified to execute the assigned scope of work.
  • Oversee the implementation and regular updates of the Inspection and Test Plan(s) (ITP).
  • Conduct site inspections as outlined in the ITP(s) and develop the ITPs for each project.
  • Review quality-related documentation submitted by subcontractors.
  • Request testing from independent testing agencies.
  • Manage and monitor the Deficiency Management Process.
  • Issue or review all project Surveillance Reports (FSR) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
  • Conduct quality orientation for new certified trades on the project site.
  • Ensure the Project Specific Quality Plan (PSQP) aligns with the requirements of the applicable Quality Control Manager(s).
  • Develop and ensure the Inspection and Test Plan(s) (ITP) meets the requirements of the applicable Quality Control Manager(s).
  • Identify quality inspection forms relevant to the project scope of work.
  • Assist in the creation of Field Instruction Work Packages (FIWPs) and Test Packages (TPs).
  • Review subcontractors' ITP(s) for compliance with construction codes.
  • Foster effective relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers in line with Graham's core values.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and their representatives as necessary, recognizing the importance of maintaining effective business relationships.
  • Exhibit Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Quality behaviors that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.
  • Take personal responsibility for your own health and safety, as well as that of other workers, visitors to the site, the community, and the environment.
  • Promote health, safety, and environmental protection for everyone on the project site.
  • Understand and comply with project-specific HSE requirements.
  • Participate in HSE initiatives and LEI scorecards.
  • Know and adhere to client requirements, Graham's Quality Management System, and all applicable government laws and regulations.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Post-secondary education, trade certification, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification as required by Code of Construction or Client specifications.
  • CWB Level 1, 2, or 3 certification.
  • National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Certification is considered an asset.
  • A combination of experience and technical qualifications necessary to execute specific jobs.
  • Previous construction experience in a Quality role.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong presentation skills and effective verbal/written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
