Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Technician Geochemistry to join our team at SGS. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing and executing laboratory techniques, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate testing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Laboratory Techniques: Execute laboratory methods independently, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to carry out analyses.
  • Document Information: Maintain daily logs and equipment record books to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Interpret Results: Record and periodically interpret results to present to senior colleagues, ensuring timely evaluation.
  • Inventory and Maintain Supplies: Keep laboratory supplies readily available by inventorying stock.
  • Operate and Maintain Equipment: Assist in maintaining and operating equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Conduct Routine Instrument Checks: Carry out routine instrument checks for compliance and accurate testing results.
  • Assist with Method SOPs and Reporting: Assist with preparing method SOPs, validation protocols, and reporting.
  • Ensure Safe Work Habits: Demonstrate safe work habits and enforce a clean and organized working environment.
  • Monitor and Check Daily H&S Checks: Assist the Department Supervisor in monitoring and checking for the completion of all daily H&S checks, monthly H&S meetings, emergency protocol, and incident/accident reports.
Qualifications
  • Education: BSc. or Diploma in a Science-related program or equivalent experience or training.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 – 3 years of relevant laboratory work experience required.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience using a variety of Geochemistry instrumentation.
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Computer Skills: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and composition, and proficiency in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Must use good judgment to identify and resolve problems on the job, referring to the supervisor when necessary.
  • Time Management: Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well with others and independently.
  • Attention to Detail: Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: Works well under pressure and is able to adapt to changing priorities.
Additional Information

Salary: $20.50 per hour
