Position Overview
As a pivotal member of the team, the Information Security Lead will serve as the technical authority in the realm of information security.

The primary responsibilities encompass the design, implementation, and upkeep of security technologies and systems, alongside the development and deployment of innovative security solutions. This role will also provide essential technical guidance for various projects initiated by both the institution and its partners.

The successful candidate will lead system administrators to ensure adherence to established information security protocols throughout the lifecycle of systems.

Key Responsibilities
1.

The Information Security Lead will guide and direct team members and external partners:

a. Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of cybersecurity defense mechanisms.
b. Offer technical leadership in establishing standards for system and device security.
c. Conduct thorough information security evaluations and audits.
d. Monitor compliance with institutional information security policies and procedures.
e. Educate stakeholders on best practices in information security.
f. Contribute to the development of job descriptions, assist in formulating interview questions, and participate in candidate interviews for roles within the IT Services.
g. Collaborate with management to ensure comprehensive coverage of security areas and concerns.
h.

Work closely with the Responsible Administrator to manage daily operations and processes, ensuring optimal effectiveness and efficiency.

Act as a resource for the Information Security Analyst on matters related to policy interpretation and best practices, making decisions on escalated issues in conjunction with the Responsible Administrator.

j. Identify and implement new opportunities for process improvements and service integration.
k. Assign and schedule tasks for unit staff based on evolving requirements.
l. Coordinate daily operational support for the Information Security Analyst.
m. Recognize and pursue new opportunities for process enhancements and service integration.

Oversight and Monitoring of Cybersecurity Technologies:
a. Investigate and resolve information security incidents.
b. Ensure the implementation of effective Host Intrusion Detection systems.
c. Guarantee the presence of adequate Network Intrusion Detection measures.
d. Facilitate comprehensive log collection and analysis.
e. Ensure the secure functioning of identity and access management systems.
f. Develop test plans and execute system testing.
g. Research and evaluate existing practices, proposing necessary adjustments.
h. Monitor system hardening, upgrades, security patches, and malware defenses.
i. Maintain thorough documentation of cybersecurity defense technologies.

Continuous Professional Development:
a. Stay informed on emerging trends and developments in information security.
b. Maintain expertise in cybersecurity defense technologies.
c. Keep abreast of information security vulnerabilities.

4. Additional Duties:
a. Participate in security risk assessments for third-party vendors and cloud solutions.
b. Contribute to the planning and design of business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
c. Provide technical assistance and support to users.
d. Attend relevant meetings and workshops.
e. Create and maintain user documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology from an accredited institution.

  • Two or more years of specialized training in Information Security, in addition to the degree, including certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CCSP, SSCP, CSSLP, CAP, or equivalent.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in Information Technology, with at least three years focused on Information Security.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage teams effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with various technologies including virtual environments, cloud solutions, and network security.
  • Experience in drafting technical documentation related to security incidents.
