Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Clerk to join our dynamic team at Merrithew International. This role is perfect for individuals eager to advance their career in finance and accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable Duties:

  • Process daily cash transactions including electronic funds transfers, checks, and credit card payments.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue accounts.
  • Distribute customer invoices and monthly statements, and manage the issuance of credit notes.
  • Prepare and execute daily bank deposits.
  • Address customer inquiries related to billing and payment discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities.

Accounts Payable Duties:

  • Verify and organize documentation for vendor invoices, including purchase orders and goods receipts.
  • Input vendor invoices into the accounting system.
  • Facilitate invoice approvals and resolve any disputes.
  • Review vendor statements to track invoice statuses and communicate with vendors as necessary.
  • Support the filing of accounts payable documentation.
  • Assist in preparing for weekly check runs.
Required Skills:
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar accounts receivable or accounts payable role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience with AccPac/Sage 300 ERP or comparable systems.
  • Customer-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
  • General understanding of accounting principles related to accounts receivable and reconciliation.
  • Experience with major retail clients is advantageous.
