Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver nursing services in alignment with organizational policies, medical directives, established standards, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Demonstrate awareness of the Resident Bill of Rights, striving to uphold and advocate for it while promoting resident satisfaction and ongoing quality enhancement initiatives.
  3. Collaborate with the Dietary Department to ensure residents' nutritional needs and preferences are adequately addressed.
  4. Facilitate the scheduling and documentation of Care Conferences to support a collaborative approach to resident care.
  5. Oversee the development, implementation, and review of initial and ongoing assessments and care plans.
  6. Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and termination processes of nursing staff in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
  7. Supervise, assign, and manage nursing personnel, including disciplinary actions as necessary.
  8. Manage staff scheduling and replacements across departments in the absence of the designated Department Head.
  9. Ensure compliance among registered personnel regarding medication administration, legislative requirements, and organizational policies.
  10. Coordinate in-house pharmaceutical inventory management and distribution to ensure adequate supplies for residents' prescribed needs.
  11. Initiate and oversee the residents' admission process, participating in admissions, discharges, and transfers to and from assigned units.
  12. Address resident and family concerns confidentially on behalf of the organization.
  13. Promote and uphold the organization's values and philosophy, particularly concerning ethics, morality, and integrity as outlined in the Code of Conduct.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. At least two (2) years of experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, and long-term nursing at a supervisory level.
  2. Registered Nurse with a valid license from the relevant provincial licensing authority. Proven leadership skills with extensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices related to long-term care.
  3. A diploma in Gerontology, Nursing Unit Administration, Management courses, or equivalent qualifications is advantageous.
  4. Actively seek opportunities for professional development and continued education.
  5. Possess maturity and good physical and mental health, along with qualities such as empathy, patience, and tact.
  6. Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
  7. Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
