Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager II to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS) organization, you will be responsible for managing client relationships, project budgets, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of 6-10 medium-sized projects with minimal assistance from management.
  • Resolve project issues and resource constraints within the team and with moderate assistance.
  • Facilitate positive team member interactions and manage conflict with minimal assistance.
  • Establish and maintain standard project reporting procedures to clients and management.
  • Manage client satisfaction by efficiently managing client expectations with minimal assistance from management.
  • Make recommendations on drug development and regulatory guidelines to clients.
  • Plan, monitor, and ensure completion of all activities outlined in the client quote for each project.
  • Prepare amendments for changes of scope in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain client timelines.
  • Create and maintain deliverables within Change Point.
  • Contribute to Unit monthly forecasts by managing project Estimated Monetary Value (EMV) and tracking reporting of revenue Risks and Opportunities.
  • Find opportunities to improve performance of PDS PM Department with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive the performance of the PDS PM Department, the site, and the Network.
Requirements
  • College Diploma in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Pharmacy, Engineering, or Business (an asset).
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience managing projects or clients.
  • Project Management / Business management experience (an asset).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (an asset).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple project deliverables in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle conflict effectively.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to results.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and database management skills.
  • Proficiency with English language.
Working Conditions

This role requires light physical effort and fatigue. The employee will be required to walk, sit, or stand for limited periods and may require occasional equipment operation, including keyboard equipment. The employee may be required to lift light items for limited duration. The employee will typically be located in a comfortable indoor area and may be exposed to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes, or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator (occasionally).
