Your RoleAs a Regulatory Counsel or Chief Legal Affairs Director, you will report to the First Director, Legal Affairs, and be responsible for providing high-level legal advice and services related to regulatory compliance of PSP's investment and business activities, including compliance with securities laws, rules, and regulations.
You will:
- Advise PSP teams, including the Legal Affairs and Compliance groups, on regulatory matters, including securities law obligations.
- Monitor the evolution of the applicable regulatory framework for PSP's investment and business activities.
- Participate in company initiatives, including leading or participating in regulatory and business working groups, and drafting and revising policies, procedures, compliance programs, and processes to manage regulatory risks.
- Work closely with other Legal Affairs lawyers to review, from a regulatory compliance perspective (particularly securities law compliance), investment management agreements and other types of asset management contracts entered into by PSP.
- Coordinate and supervise the execution of legal work performed by authorized external lawyers worldwide in accordance with internal policies.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A law degree.
- A membership in a Canadian province or territory bar association.
- Five to ten years of relevant experience as a lawyer, in the field of securities law, regulatory regimes, and/or corporate transactions, acquired in a private law firm or in-house legal department of a large company or compliance group.
- Experience in regulatory compliance with securities laws, rules, and regulations, and/or complex investment products and instruments, is an asset.
- A strong work ethic, high level of professionalism, and autonomy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactivity.
- Ability to effectively manage priorities and multiple files.
- Superior analytical skills, competence, and rigor.
- A team spirit.
- A high degree of flexibility and interest in working in a rapidly growing company.
- Bilingualism: English and French.
