Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Chief Engineer to oversee and enhance the operational efficiency of our mechanical systems. This role involves coordinating and supervising shift engineers in their daily tasks, ensuring effective building and mechanical rounds, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preventative maintenance, operation, and servicing of mechanical facilities in line with our established maintenance program.
- Conduct general repairs and maintenance of building interiors and exteriors as necessary.
- Monitor tenant construction activities to ensure compliance with building codes and protection of base building systems.
- Participate in the testing of fire and life safety systems, adhering to all relevant regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory codes and permits, maintaining up-to-date documentation.
- Assist in the procurement of materials and supplies, adhering to purchasing policies.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints throughout the year.
- Work a regular shift rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Participate in the after-hours emergency response on-call program.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Building Operator in a mixed-use high-rise environment.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and operational routines for large mechanical systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Extensive experience with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and similar technologies.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Experience with fire alarm systems is a plus.
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
