We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at the Ministry of Transportation. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for managing a variety of planning, preliminary, and detailed-design highway improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage a portfolio of highway improvement projects, including acquisition and management of consultants.
- Liaise and work with ministry staff, senior management, internal stakeholders, external agencies, municipalities, developers, consultants, and the public.
- Lead and coordinate project teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Acquire, administer, and evaluate engineering service providers to ensure compliance with ministry policies and procedures.
- Resolve planning and engineering issues that may arise during project delivery.
- Professional Engineer license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Project management skills to manage projects, including acquisition and management of consultants.
- Interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, senior officials, and the public.
- Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of civil engineering related to highway engineering.
- Working knowledge of related fields, including geotechnical, pavement design, structural, drainage, surveys, electrical, traffic, and construction practices.
- Knowledge of alternative delivery methods, such as functional outsourcing, Total Project Management, and Design Build.
This is a permanent, full-time position located at 1355 John Counter Blvd, Kingston, East Region. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to travel to various project sites.
