Job Summary:

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Labour Relations Specialist. This is a full-time position based in Iqaluit, NU, and will report to the Manager, Employee Relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice, training, and guidance to departments handling employer/employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist managers in disciplinary actions, provide guidance on the interpretation of collective agreements and human resource policies.
  • Assist in implementing strategies to promote a positive working environment.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, managers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Industrial Relations, Business (with a Human Resources or Labour Relations major), Psychology, or Labour Law.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Good understanding of compensation policies and practices.
  • Ability to communicate in French, one of Nunavut's official languages.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, and land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and Inuktut.
