Wawanesa is seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Commercial Property Underwriting Specialist. This role is designed for individuals with intermediate to senior experience in the field.

The compensation for this position ranges from $65,000+ for intermediate candidates to $75,000+ for senior professionals. Salary considerations include factors such as work location, local labor market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity, and your expertise and experience.

In this role, you will work with minimal supervision to assess the acceptability of complex and high premium volume business in accordance with company guidelines. Collaborating with our sales team, you will provide valuable expertise and service to both potential and existing policyholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting risk analysis utilizing technology and external data sources for quoting, negotiating, and authorizing risk acceptance.
  • Determining eligibility for policy renewals based on company guidelines and retention goals.
  • Maintaining accurate records of decisions and ensuring the completeness of policy data.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on insurance policies, processes, regulations, and audits.
  • Participating in periodic work reviews for quality assurance.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of business changes.
  • Influencing team members positively and providing short-term direction to achieve team goals.
  • Fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including networking at industry events.

Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the Property and Casualty industry.
  • Completion or active pursuit of a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
