Embodied Carbon Specialist - Green Buildings and Sustainability

At the City of Vancouver, we are committed to creating a more sustainable future for our community. As an Embodied Carbon Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing policies and programs to reduce the environmental impact of buildings and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement embodied carbon policies and guidelines for new buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including developers, architects, and engineers, to promote sustainable building practices.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for reducing embodied carbon in building materials and construction methods.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and stakeholders to promote the adoption of sustainable building practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to City staff and external stakeholders on embodied carbon-related issues.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in urban planning, architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in sustainable building practices, policy development, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainable building practices.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
