Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embodied Carbon Policy Specialist to join our team at the City of Vancouver. As a key member of our Green and Resilient Buildings Branch, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing policies and programs to reduce embodied carbon in buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement embodied carbon policy and compliance processes
  • Review and evaluate embodied carbon requirements in permit applications
  • Provide technical support and guidance to stakeholders on embodied carbon policy and best practices
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance embodied carbon reduction goals
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy development and implementation
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate embodied carbon policy and initiatives to stakeholders
Requirements
  • Master's degree in urban planning, architecture, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field, preferably in policy development and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of development planning, architecture, and building codes
  • Expertise in embodied carbon, including whole building lifecycle assessment
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
