North Bay Regional Health Centre is in search of a temporary Full-time Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA). The ideal candidate will deliver therapeutic services to rehabilitative populations, as well as those requiring alternate levels of care and complex continuing care, under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist, in both individual and group settings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementing the directives provided by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist concerning speech, language, and swallowing programs, assessments, strategies, resources, and modifications for patients and their families.
- Adhering to established screening protocols and accurately documenting responses without interpretation beyond pass/fail, determining if further assessment is necessary.
- Creating patient-focused therapy materials.
- Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Assessing the effectiveness of interventions and progress towards patient-centered objectives.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Communication Disorders Assistant or equivalent coursework.
- 1-2 years of experience with adult populations is preferred; however, recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Membership in CDAAC is preferred.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in stroke and neuro rehabilitation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team is essential.
- Strong case management capabilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in computer applications is required.
- Commitment to ensuring personal safety, as well as the safety of colleagues, patients, volunteers, and visitors is essential.
- Support and contribute to a culture of safety and the prevention of adverse health events within the organization.
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. Unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the French requirement is met or if no successful bilingual candidates are identified. A formal French proficiency assessment will be conducted.
A Criminal Reference Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, conducted within the last six (6) months is a requirement.
