Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Shift Engineer - Second Class to join the Power Plant team at Vancouver General Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, repair, and maintain a high-pressure, high-temperature primary combined cycle power plant, ensuring compliance with the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Provide work direction to Assistant Shift Engineers, coordinating work activities, providing guidance, technical advice, training, and orientation.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 plus five years' recent related experience in a first-class industrial plant.
  • Second (2nd) Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line drawings.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
