Refrigeration Plant Operator

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ammonia refrigeration ice plant, as well as daily routine maintenance of auxiliary vehicles and equipment. The incumbent will also be responsible for any duties assigned for maintenance, cleanliness, setup, and safety of the building.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all maintenance in the building, including minor repairs, emergency glass and board repair, bulb and filter replacements, facility conversions, vehicle maintenance, custodial maintenance, and other related duties as assigned.
Shift work is required for this position, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain the ammonia refrigeration ice plant in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform daily routine maintenance of auxiliary vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with maintenance, cleanliness, setup, and safety of the building.
- Perform minor repairs, emergency glass and board repair, bulb and filter replacements, facility conversions, vehicle maintenance, custodial maintenance, and other related duties as assigned.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ice plant and building.
- High school graduation supplemented by related technical training with a minimum 5th Class Power Engineering Certification and a Refrigeration Operators Certificate of Competency.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia driver's license.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
